Green Zone Surveys identifies over £10,000 of energy savings following audit of ICON plc.
A globally recognised clinical research organisation has identified savings of over £10,000, alongside 21.15 tonnes of carbon reductions, thanks to extensive audits carried out by UK compliance and energy assessment experts, Green Zone Surveys.
The comprehensive energy audits were carried across three buildings as part of the clients Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme submission, evaluating solar panels, retrofitting VSDs, changing heating profiles, energy monitoring and altering control strategies.
All work carried out was to ensure they comply with legal requirements, whilst also identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce running costs.
By following the recommendations provided by Green Zone Surveys, this organisation could save over 105,000 kWh of energy.
Commenting on the quality of the inspections, Chris Owen at ICON plc said: “We are pleased to confirm that Green Zone Surveys provided exceptional support throughout our ESOS Phase 3 compliance process. Their team worked diligently to ensure we met all regulatory requirements, offering valuable insights into improving our energy efficiency.
“The professionalism and expertise demonstrated by Green Zone Surveys made the entire process seamless, and we would highly recommend their services to other companies seeking support with energy compliance and sustainability initiatives, particularly ESOS.”
The Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) is designed to analyse an organisation’s energy consumption to identify ways in which they can reduce their energy usage for both the benefit of the environment and themselves. As the name suggests, significant cost savings can be achieved, and Green Zone Surveys are delighted to share the news of this cost-saving success for ICON plc.
Ben Palmer, Technical Manager of Green Zone Surveys, emphasised the benefits of the inspections carried out: "The audits highlighted significant savings across the buildings surveyed with a variety of measures, both long and short term, that will reduce ICON plc’s energy consumption and carbon footprint.”
Following submissions of the Phase 3 compliance notifications, attention has now turned to the follow on ESOS Action Plan. The Action Plans will be available for public reading and are to include what you intend to do to reduce emissions, when you intend to do this, the energy savings you expect from these actions, how the savings were estimated and whether it was through your ESOS assessment.
The plans are intended to show what companies are intending do before the next ESOS submission in 2027. The recorded actions should be realistic and recorded with the intent to carry them out. The Action Plan will need updating yearly until the next ESOS compliance date in December 2027.
If you don’t know where to start or are struggling with putting together a coherent and achievable Action Plan, Green Zone Surveys can offer guidance, quality assurance and / or a full service to deliver you an Action Plan on time.
